AN electricity company has apologised for a series of power cuts that left parts of Fareham without power over three weekends.

The first power cut took place on Saturday, February 9 at 11am and around 800 homes were affected.

This was due to a sub-station fault, which has been fixed. The majority of homes were reconnected within 30 minutes, although some were without power until 4pm.

A second power cut took place on Sunday, February 17 at 9pm due to a fault with an underground cable. Around 1,000 homes in the Fareham area were affected, with some not being connected until 1am.

The third power cut happened on Sunday, March 3 at 1am due to a separate fault with another underground cable. About 1,000 customers were affected, with some not being reconnected until 4am.

A spokesman from Scottish and Southern Energy said: ‘We want to apologise for these interruptions.

‘Whenever there is a fault the priority is to get people back on.

‘Now they are, we are carrying out a full investigation. The three incidents were not related and we will be making repairs.’
