THE iconic Red Arrows are set to make their spectacular return to the skies above the Solent today (Friday) on a day of America’s Cup practice racing.

The stunning display team will put on a performance to crowds across Southsea Common and the Race Village event arenas from midday.

Today is a practice race day, while Saturday and Sunday will see teams compete for points. Royals Kate and Will will attend a prize-giving ceremony.

The Red Arrows at last year’s Portsmouth America’s Cup World Series were forced to cancel at the last minute their flypast due to torrential weather.

Despite reports the team had taken off from Farnborough, the cancellation confirmation came just as the display should have started.

But it’s hoped the run of good weather this week will ensure the Red Arrows will make their World Series debut.
