FOUR etchings of HMS Victory by William Lionel Wyllie have sold at auction for more than £1,000.

The four signed pieces of work had belonged to the ship’s former commanding officer, Charles Addis, who was in the position between 1982 and 1986.

It is believed he was the last owner of the four pieces before his death.

The items were sold for between £300 and £600 each at 25 Blythe Road auctioneers near Kensington Olympia in London.

Charles Miller, a maritime specialist who sold the items at auction, said: ‘I am very pleased that these well-preserved prints, which were formerly the property of the late Charles Addis, have found new homes at good prices.’
