IT’S a return to form for Fontwell Park, after it has won a trophy which it previously held for 20 years on the trot.
It has won the 2012 Racegoers Club award for the Best Small Racecourse in the South East – a title it lost in 2009 and did not reclaim until now.
The awards are eagerly anticipated by racecourses as they are run by the UK’s biggest racegoers club, which has more than 4,500 members.
Each of those members is given discounts to get into courses all over the country, and are invited to vote for their winners.
Tracy Skinner, Fontwell Park’s new general manager, said: ‘What a great boost for the extremely hard-working team here at Fontwell Park.
‘We are delighted to have been given this award by the most regular visitors to racecourses in Britain and we are working hard to improve the facilities and customer experience at Fontwell Park.
‘The new grandstand has proved to be a fantastic facility for our 24 race days every year as well as providing a superb conference and event venue all year round, and we are looking forward to a bright year developing the track even further.’
The first meeting at Fontwell Park in 2013 is the January Sale race day on Sunday, January 27.
