PORTSMOUTH harbour was the venue for a yacht racing event in the corporate world.

Accountancy and financial services group Smith & Williamson hosted its third annual Clipper Challenge, where six vessels from the Clipper Round the World Yacht race fleet compete in three legs between the harbour and the Isle of Wight.

CLF, a UK wholesaler of sports nutrition and healthy lifestyle products, lifted the sail-shaped silverware at the end of the challenge.

Richard Green, managing director of Smith & Williamson’s south coast office, said: ‘The weather made for great sailing, with a force four to five wind and plenty of sunshine.

‘The Clipper fleet is very much an important part of the leisure economy in Portsmouth, attracting investment through corporate events such as this and proudly flying the flag for the city.’

The yachts are the world’s largest fleet of matched ocean racing yachts, and have circumnavigated the globe three times.
