Portsmouth was a global hub in the past thanks to the docks and naval port, and the lingerie industry to name but a few.
This meant there were people with special skills in the defence industry, logistics and related activities.
How can these now be used in other sectors – and are there links that can be made across firms so the city becomes part of a global strategic network in a series of ways?
How are you focusing on identifying, nurturing, harnessing, promoting, attracting and sustaining internal talent and drawing in talent from outside?
Surveys in the States suggest that 64 per cent of educated people choose the city rather than the job. The expectations of this group from a city need to be thought through.
