ARMY: We are researching the soldiers of the 14th & 15th HAMPSHIRE REGIMENTS from the First World War and would be pleased to hear from any families who had relatives that served in either the 14th or 15th Battalions and could give us any information of these men – a lot of whom came from the Portsmouth area. BEARD: I am trying locate descendants of a Henry (Harry) Archer who was born in Southampton as Henry Orchard in 1892.

He served in the RN, believed to have the rank of PO, and married Florence L Race in 1921.

Their daughter, Gwendoline W Archer, was born in 1921 and I believe she married a Leonard G Thomas in 1946.

If anyone knows of the whereabouts of any descendants of the above I would be most grateful if they could contact me.

ROYAL NAVY: The Royal Naval Electrical Branch Association is the association to join if any News readers served in the Electrical Branch of the Royal Navy at any time.

At a very recent reunion there was much talk of old pals and old ship and messmates. Friendships started on the courses at the Royal Navy Radio, Radar and Electrical Training Establishment HMS Collingwood at Fareham and a lot of the members would like to renew those lost friendships.

See our magnificent website at RNEBA.org.uk and sign up for the membership list sent to every member, with regular updates.

You can also write/e-mail me for details.

PARROTT/COX: Can readers help us to find our missing relatives, descendants of the COX, PARROTT, TAMMA(D)GE families of Willis Road, Gosport in the 1940/1950s?

n Richard Cox RN (b1868-1957) was one of the sons of my Great Great Grandparents, John and Emily Cox (nee Clavey). Born in Somerset, he moved with his parents and many siblings to the Southampton area about 1875. Richard Cox married a local girl, Elizabeth Whiffen and we are trying to find what happened to two of their daughters: Mabel Elizabeth Cox (b1892) married in 1919 William Henry Parrott. At the time of marriage William was living at 24 Willis Road (Stoke Road), and his occupation is that of Carrier/Carter. Mabel Elizabeth Cox states living at 51 Henry Street (Stoke Road). We believe they continued living in Willis Road at least until the early 1950s – maybe even into the 1960s.

n Doris Gertrude Cox (b1904). We have hardly any information for her. Did she marry, had children or what? She is a mystery! We know that some time in the early 1950's she was with her sister, Mabel Elizabeth Parrott and/or William Henry Parrott in Willis Road.

n Also, I am trying to find the descendants and information for William Henry Parrott from his first marriage to Ada Elizabeth Tamma(d)ge in 1908. (Ada E Parrott died 1913). One of the children from this marriage, Florence G Parrott (born 1912) married 1933 Samuel Osgood. There may have been more children born between 1908 and 1911. I shall be grateful for any information.

SHARP: Thanks (ref John & Wendy Sharp, Where Are They Now? May 16)) to Ray Rolls from Gosport and Colin Thorpe from Havant for contacting me. I have now passed the details to the mutual friends in Cyprus who were trying to locate the Sharps.
