Quiet cul-de-sacs created

Anchorage Park, Portsmouth, in 1986

Anchorage Park, Portsmouth, in 1986

Anchorage Park, photographed here in 1986, was built on the site of Portsmouth Airport.

The housing development offered 700 new homes, a supermarket and 50 acres for industry, hence more employment.

The estate was designed to reduce the number of houses overlooking another house and to create quiet cul-de-sacs.
