Cash saved by Lily Allen dropping out of the Isle of Wight Festival line-up is to be spent on improving the environment, say organisers.
John Giddings said money set aside for her fee will instead fund a five-year action plan including planting Black Poplar trees and research into bee habitats in a new campaign called Give Bees a Chance. It will also pay for a scheme to encourage local businesses to cut down on travel.

Mr Giddings said the festival will still have some negative impact on the environment but that organisers were committed to reducing it and giving something back to islanders.
