Dynasty, the new 18-25 group of former Dynamo Youth Theatre members, made its debut this week with an all-new, updated and 'cleaner' version of John Godber's hit comedy, Bouncers.
A parody of the contemporary nightclub scene, it gives four actors the opportunity to portray more than 20 characters during a night on the town.

Giggly girls, lads on the pull, lairy chavs, floppy-haired emos and a seemingly smooth-talking DJ are set against the tatty, glitzy glamour, flashing lights and pulsating beat of the dance floor.

Director Callum West, now active with Bench Theatre at Havant, says: 'As we are all ex-Dynamo members, we have the same ethos and work ethic in our acting and rehearsing, and this made the task so much easier.

'Rehearsals have been full of fun and laughs, and the shaping of the play has been a group effort.'

Andrew Bowker, artistic director of Dynamo, says: 'Dynasty Theatre provides an opportunity for the senior section to experience for themselves the chance to run their own theatre company.'

All four cast members – Matt Sackman, Josh Francis, Dave Burns and Simon Gardiner – say they have fond memories of Dynamo productions, some dating back to 1997, and are looking forward to being reunited on stage in Bouncers.

The group meets on Thursdays at 7.30pm and would welcome inquiries from anyone wishing to join, especially ex-Dynamo members. Details: (023) 9248 0221 or dyt.org.uk.

Bouncers can be seen at the Spring Arts Centre, Havant, until Friday (7.30pm).
