One of the biggest acts of the 1980s is to headline a food festival.
Marillion were one of the biggest-selling bands of the decade with hits such as Kayleigh and Lavender in the top ten.

Now organisers of the Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival in Mill Rythe Holiday Village have booked Fish – the band's lead singer – to be the headliner at the event in August.

John Dyer, who is organising the event, said: 'He is probably the biggest name ever to play a concert on Hayling Island and I think it would be of great interest to local music fans and locals in general.'

It is hoped the paid-for event will fill the gap in the market where Emsworth Food Festival has been for the past seven years after organisers announced they will be taking a year off.

There will be Laser Quest and quad-biking for children and for the parents the lifestyle fields will be dedicated to cars, boats, ski products and homes abroad.

The key element is food with a French market among artists and stalls of organic produce.

There will be entertainment on August 30 and 31 with a firework display to finish the weekend off.

Tickets cost £5 per person or £10 for a family of four. Money raised will be donated to the Hayling First Responders and Hayling Lifeboat.

For more information, to book tickets or if you want to exhibit go to www.haylingfoodfestival.com.

Fish left Marillion almost 20 years ago.

Yet another poorly researched article written by a lazy journalist.

Since then both Fish & Marillion, with their replacement lead singer, have had productive and successful careers.
