Guitar man Sherman Robertson is performing in Portsmouth tonight - and he'll be joined on stage at The Cellars in Eastney by a local line-up.
Sherman's big commercial break came when Paul Simon asked him to provide guitar on his Graceland album.

After early tours with Clifton Chenier, Terrance Simien and Johnny Clyde Copeland, he was signed to Atlantic Records by Mike Vernon and hasn't looked back.

In 1993 his first solo recording I'm The Man was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award – The USA's Blues equivalent of a Grammy.

His latest album Guitar Man – Live (Crosscut Records) was described by
BBC Radio 2's Paul Jones as 'VERY ,VERY good indeed'.

The American Blues man has strong ties to Portsmouth. Local musicians Gary Shaw and Bernie Fox have toured with him, and Gary still joins him on stage when he's in town.

•Tickets, £14 advance, £15 door (advance price includes free drink), are available from The Cellars, Cromwell Road, Portsmouth, Box Office 023 9282 6249 (2pm-6pm daily) and online at www.ticketweb.co.uk
