With the Cellars packed to the rafters I was lucky enough to see Brighton four-piece The Perils take to the stage.
As they exploded into their set with the up-beat fast-paced sing-along Lipstick Sister, the crowd came alive.

As the set continued it became clear that The Perils are an incredibly talented live band.

Their solid earnest and generally thrilling sound got the crowd to their feet as they danced, clapped and sang along to every track.

The chaotic beauty of the gentle melodies and thrashing guitars are the perfect combination, with the solid vocal and swagger of front man Danny McGurn.

'We love coming to Pompey,' was the shout from McGurn mid-set.

The Perils really took things to another level with the beautiful new track Where The Wild Ones Go, and as the set went on the tracks just continued to get stronger.

The River merged into If I Was King with a fantastic drum solo from Tom Heron.

The explosive Give Me A Reason was the closing track, and as the Perils left the stage to rapturous applause the fans were begging for more.

If you get the chance I recommend you go see The Perils.
