With two hit singles - Just For Tonight and You And Me - under their belt, and a top 10 debut album Started A Fire, Yorkshire band One Night Only embark on their third sold-out tour.

Having supported the likes of The Pigeon Detectives, The Enemy, The Coral and The Kooks,One Night Only have emerged as one of the biggest British bands this year.

Pretty good going for a band that was formed in 2003, when singer George was just 12.

One Night Only started out as a bunch of school friends 'just making noise' in their rural hometown of Helmsley, North Yorkshire. Then they knuckled down and wrote some songs and in October 2006, Steve Lamacq began spinning the demo of You And Me, prompting the band to start taking themselves seriously.

One Night Only are: George Craig (vocals/guitar), Mark Hayton (guitar), Sam Ford (drums), Dan Parkin (bass) and Jack Sails (keyboards).

Still too young to order a pint in the pub, George says: 'I suppose I am a bit young to do the rock circuit and mum always phones to check that I'm eating properly. But it's made us all grow up a lot faster.'

It's George who writes the band's surprisingly mature lyrics. He cites his main inspiration as his family, which includes brother James, who plays drums with Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong.

Supporting ONO are two hotly-tipped acts. First, there's 19-year-old Matt Abbott AKA Skint & Demoralised, who draws influences from Morrissey, Mike Skinner and David Bowie, and who has just signed to Mercury Records (Razorlight, Dirty Pretty Things, U2).

Joining them will be three-piece General Fiasco, hailing from Northern Ireland and not yet out of their teens. They have recently been NME's pick of the weekend and their first limited single release will be Rebel Get By out on the November 10.

One Night Only will be at the Pyramids Centre, Southsea tonight. For tickets, call Portsmouth Guildhall box office (023) 9282 4355.
