CHILDREN were spellbound by Winnie the Witch at a family fun day.
The event at Cockleshell Community Centre in Henderson Road, Eastney, Portsmouth, saw more than 200 children making hats and magic wands, and doing spells with a witch entertainer.

The children, aged up to 11, also took part in making fruit kebabs to encourage healthy eating and enjoyed reading in a mobile library.

Vikki Farndell, one of the organisers, said: 'We decided on having Winnie the Witch, as our mobile library had done the same theme. It has been an absolute success.

'When we were planning this we didn't expect so many families to turn up.'

She added: 'We usually have a mother and toddler group at the centre but we thought it would be nice to bring the older brothers and sisters to the group too.'
