FRESH from his win on the TV series Tycoon, entrepreneur Iain Morgan is bidding for another title.
This time he has entered The News Business Excellence Awards in the achiever category – which he admits aptly describes his year.
Mr Morgan, of Francis Avenue, Southsea, won the ITV1 Tycoon title for his remote-controlled helicopter importation business.
The 30-year-old is now building up his business and has signed a deal for an office in the Technopole in Kingston Crescent, Portsmouth.
He is also ensuring that the manufacturers in China will get enough supplies over to the UK so he can satisfy what he says will be a huge market.
Mr Morgan said: 'If I am successful in the awards it will be a recognition of all the hard work I've put in.
'When I won Tycoon I believe that was because I had worked hard.
'If I win The News Business Excellence Awards it will also be recognition of the local lad coming good. It would be a great end to the year.
'It will be nice to meet other local businessmen and women and see what they are doing as well.'
Tycoon was seen as ITV's answer to The Apprentice and Dragons' Den, and was presented by millionaire businessman Peter Jones.
Each programme was originally meant to be an hour long, but after poor viewing figures was cut to 30 minutes.
Each budding entrepreneur in the programme contributed to a winner-takes-all pot, although Mr Morgan put in the most over the 10 weeks, and he was voted the winner by members of the public.
