Fareham woman stars in Crippen TV programme
A FAREHAM woman is to star in a controversial documentary on Channel Five tonight.
Actress Liz Beckett, 35, will star in Was Dr Crippen Innocent?: Revealed.
It's a documentary about the case of American doctor Hawley Harvey Crippen who was hanged in 1910 for the poisoning and dismembering of his British wife, Cora.
The programme questions the conviction and uses modern forensic methods to attempt to expose flaws in the case, suggesting that one of history's most infamous fugitives from justice could have been innocent.
Miss Beckett, of Nashe Way, Fareham, plays Ethel Le Neve – Crippen's mistress, who was believed to have been the motive for him killing his wife.
Ethel was also with Crippen when the mild-mannered American was captured on board a ship heading across the Atlantic.
Miss Beckett said: 'It was a truly magical experience which I feel very proud to be a part of.'
