A youth hockey player with ambitions to take part in the London 2012 Olympics has celebrated success.
Simon Faulkner, whose father David won gold for Great Britain in the men's hockey in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, secured a place at Loughborough University. The 18-year-old has captained the under-18 Great Britain team and is in the under-21 squad. He hopes to join the senior team.

Simon, of Portsmouth Grammar School, could not celebrate with his father, as his dad is in Beijing as head of hockey for Great Britain.

Simon, of Fareham, said: 'I have the same playing style as dad but there are things I do differently.'

He scored As in business and physical education and Bs in economics and history, and will read business management. He said: 'Unlike football, there's not a lot of money in hockey so I need a career.'
