Adams sweating on injured trio

Pompey are sweating on the fitness of three of their injured stars ahead of the crucial trip to Wolfsburg.
Sol Campbell (toe), Younes Kaboul (ankle) and John Utaka (hip) were all absent from the weekend victory over Blackburn.

The trio were also unable to train on the Fratton Park pitch afterwards along with the substitutes and those in the squad who didn't feature in the 3-2 success.

They are now facing a race against time to declare themselves fit enough to take a seat on the plane to Hannover tomorrow.

Campbell has the best chance of being available, having started running last week following his toe injury.

The Blues skipper has missed Pompey's last four matches, during which time they have shipped in six goals.

Natural replacement Younes Kaboul is also struggling, having picked up an ankle injury during the AC Milan draw.

Noe Pamarot is on stand-by to replace both at the centre of defence, although Hermann Hreidarsson is also an option.

Utaka has an outside chance as he continues to progress in his recovery from a hip problem sustained against Hull.

Richard Hughes will be fine, however, having recovered from a kick in the foot he initially suffered at the hands of Mathieu Flamini against Milan.

The problem forced him to receive intensive treatment ahead of the Blackburn game, but he came through it with no further problems.

Meanwhile, Lassana Diarra remains on the sidelines as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

The French international is expected to be out for another three weeks as his rehabilitation is stepped up.

I haven't checked the statistics but I do feel that we have missed the experience and steadying qualities of Sol, particularly when we have conceeded late goals. I really hope he is available for Thursday.
I won't be in Germany but I do know that the fans will be top class again and look forward to a nerve testing couple of hours by the computer on Thursday evening, listening to Quay radio on line.

just looking at the league table, if we lose to Wolfsberg. then our best hope to still qualify is if Heerenveen beat Braga, that would leave us needing to win our last game to qualify in 3rd place

RobboPFC check out myp2p.eu on the night. They will be showing game live. Picture quality not always brilliant but better than nothing.
Lets win both games and qualify in our own right.
Good luck to the boys on thursday.
Come on you blues.

hussler, this is one vague report. I think the issue is is Arsenal will sell him, hich I do not htink they will just yet.

Again is is not as simple as just snapping him up, this is not Champ manager.

But we should strongly consider doing all we can to get him. yes.

You're all right about Campbell. Too many Pompey fans have underestimated his influence. Talk to any Arsenal fan and they will tell you about how dominant a force he was in their success. He is the best English central defender of his generation and should still be playing for England. We are unbelievably fortunate to have him at the club.

only floor is his pace now too slow to be in england team for me..

we will let in goals when players beat him for pace .

but he makes up for that with solid defending and i didnt realise how influential he is as captain .

but i still think we should let him go in january if we get a bid of say half a million .

hes 35 and on 80,000 a week thats about 3 million a year !
