Distin demands an improvement

SYLVAIN DISTIN rounded on stuttering Pompey and insisted: This is not good enough.
The Blues defender has been left stunned by successive defeats against Manchester City and Blackburn.

He is also unhappy with the display produced in the goalless draw with Newcastle at Fratton Park.

Distin is convinced the FA Cup has become an unwelcome distraction to some of his team-mates, hitting their league form badly.

Pompey head to Middlesbrough tomorrow looking to maintain their fading interest in fifth spot.

And the inspirational defender has called for a dramatic improvement.

He said: 'It's important we get a reaction from the side after three games when we have not been good enough.

'We have to react now because we can't expect to play four or five bad games and then raise the tempo just for the final.

'It's hard because everybody has a different reaction to the Cup final.

'Some feel like they need to rest for it, some feel like they need to carry on, everybody is different.

'I can't talk for the team, but for me I don't think about it – I focus on the league. That's most important.

'Maybe the motivation isn't altogether at the moment, we aren't playing well.

'That's my point of view. I'm not pointing at one player or two players, it's the general feeling.

'Some games at the start you feel like everything is going to be okay, but at the moment when I go on the pitch I feel like it's difficult and we are going to have to fight a lot if we are going to win that game.

'That has to change.'

Sylvain is my player of the season. Even ahead of Jamo.

Spot on attitude. The players who are not giving everything for the cause know who they are so buck up or ship out.
Winning our last two league games is the perfect way to go into the Cup Final so we can stuff Cardiff and stick two fingers up to the Welsh and their FA.

heres how you can improve, drop ashdown , kanu and campbell, 442 , no long balls , baros up front along side defoe, a nice passing game, which we showed we can do against blackburn but that was for all of 5 minutes until we started hoofing it long to the carthouse kanu

Well said Sylvain, you've basically said what a lot of the fans have been thinking on the terraces lately. We need to get some momentum going if we're going to put in a consistant performance in the final. Harry needs to get the team in place so that we have some continuity, you don't need tinkering this late on! Pick the squad and let them gel!

surely it's up to harry to get the players in the right frame of mind and not one of the players? agree we have been very poor since reaching the final and cannot understand why harry hasn't brought in mendes, davis etc to give players a warning.

so harry, tony and sol get your fingers out and warn the players that 2 more indifferent performances and they could end up on the bench for the final.

Quck question Scott, if you drop Ashdown, who are you putting in goal seeing as James is doubtful? I thought he did a decent job on Sunday - wasn't at fault for the goal, and hasn't played in the Premiership for a couple of years, so not too bad all things considered.

How will Pompey fare against Cardiff in the FA Cup final?
Pompey are too good for them. We will win at a canter!
It will be tight, but Harry's boys will just nick it.
Cardiff will break Blues hearts and destroy the Cup dream!
It will go to the lottery of penalties and then it's anybody's guess!
