Avram Grant will tomorrow make his bow as Pompey boss - and the identity of the opposition is strikingly familiar.
Manchester United will line up against the Blues bidding to prevent a winning start for the Israeli.

They were also the opponents for his first match in charge of Chelsea on September 23, 2007.

On that occasion, he suffered a 2-0 loss at Old Trafford after goals from Carlos Tevez and a last-minute Louis Saha penalty.

The Red Devils would also prove to be his final match in charge of Chelsea - the Champions League final defeat.

The May 21, 2008, showpiece saw Frank Lampard level for Chelsea to cancel out Cristiano Ronaldo's opener.

Then came the dreaded penalty shoot-out which saw John Terry miss the spot-kick which would have handed Grant's men the crown, before Nicolas Anelka's failure to convert handed United glory.

Three days later Grant was sacked. Now he's back - and Manchester United are once again the opposition.

At least he will know how to handle them and get the players to play properly.

Mr Pompey,

I am looking forward to tomorrow and I am sure the atmosphere will be fantastic until the 2nd United goal goes in midway through the 2nd half. We will try hard but we will loose.

Mr Pompey
Optimistic to say the least if you think the second goal wont be scored till the second half.
I said it last week before the Stoke game that if they leave young Wilson to deal with Rooney like they left him to deal with Fuller then we are in deep trouble.
He lets them have too much time and space on the ball.

Alan Walker,

AVRAM OUT! 27/11/2009 10:42:05
Avram will be dire in the Portsmouth managerial role. But at least we will see five or six goals when we play, sorry I mean turn up, against ManU.

We have a good record against Man U - no need to be over awed - they don't like it too physical. Definately a good time to get belhaj back in their defence is not the best - i've got a GOOD FEELING abut this one !

For gods sake lets give Grant a chance before we call for his head, so many people wanted Hart out, now have their way and attack the new guy before a ball is kicked

Yes I agree, we have to give the guy a chance. So AG was not everybody's choice however he was the choice of the people entrusted to turn the club around and you just cannot please everyone. He's in charger now and that is that we must give him our full backing.

I'm sure even if we'd have appointed Jose Mourinho there would still be a few fans complaining that we should have re-hired Terry Fenwick or Graham Rix.

Best of luck to the boys tomorrow!
