Goal support will come, insists Adams

Tony Adams insists he is unconcerned by the lack of goal support being given to his strikers.
The Blues drew a blank at West Ham on Saturday as they were held to a 0-0 draw.

Jermain Defoe failed to take advantage of a host of chances as the Hammers kept their first Premier League clean sheet at the 25th attempt.

The failure to hit the back of the net highlighted the lack of goals from defence and midfield.

Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe have hit 13 goals between them this season.

But Glen Johnson, Niko Kranjcar and Nadir Belhadj are the only other players to register in the league.

Adams isn't overly concerned by that statistic however, and feels goals won't be in short supply for his men this season.

He said: 'We'll get people chipping in with goals.

'Nadir got a good goal last week and Niko the week before.
'If they spread five or six between them that will be good.

'Peter will score 10 and Jermain will get 15 plus. That will be fine.

'Niko got that last year and will need to do the same again.'

Adams was pleased enough with the return of a point from the trip to West Ham. And he was content with the quality of Pompey's general play.

But he noted areas for improvement that he intends to work on in training this week.

Adams said: 'I think we can keep the ball better.
'Harry liked footballing teams and so do I. I don't want to change that.

'We are a little bit open though, so maybe I have to do a bit of work on that.

'We are a little bit open to the counter attack.
'I would like to improve in that department and get a better balance to the team.'

Does that mean he wasn't given the support as in the ball or the support as in finishing what he was given?
They were given the support last week and won, just because they didn't score this match doesn't mean there was no support.
PLAY UP POMPEY AND LET THE REPORTERS WORRY ABOUT LACK OF SUPPORT,WE KNOW YOU HAVE A BETTER TEAM THEN BEFORE IT'S JUST THE REPORTERS LIKE TO FIND FLAWS AND TEAR THE MORAL OF THE TEAM UP.

I think the 'support' means goals from other areas ie midfield & defense.
The SA goldmining sale seems to have gone (or maybe they are in a period of due diligence)??

where is the midfield support to some from when it is packed with pedestrian players? the midfield at upton park on saturday, with the exception of diarra/traore, was designed to stop and not create.
