Avram Grant told the Premier League: Tell us what's happening.
The Pompey boss admitted the uncertainty surrounding the club is getting to his players after last night's 2-1 defeat to Birmingham.

Grant has met with administrator Andrew Andronikou as he prepares to wield the axe at Fratton Park today.

They have held talks about what lies ahead for the club in the wake of being placed into administration.

It appears inevitable Pompey will lose nine points as a result of that, if the process continues.

But Grant believes the club are in limbo until they know what their fate is.

The 54-year-old insists the Premier League are compromising the integrity of the English game by condemning the Blues.

He said: 'I think we always want to win, but when we always hear about nine points we know we cannot do nothing about this situation.

'We tell the players that the Premier League haven't taken the points from us yet.

'But when you come to the pitch it will have an effect, though. We want to win, but it's not easy for us.

'With our circumstances ,Saturday was a lot more important than this game.

'I still believe, though, that it has to be decided on the pitch. We will see how they deal with this.

'We can still do it, but we need to know for sure what will happen.

'We can't read every day that we are nine points down because this affects our players. They are trying to do everything.

'I think there is one decision. I respect the rules and need to do this.

'But I say it's not good for the Premier League that the decision is
decided off the pitch.

'The victims are the people who have not done anything.'

Andronikou is scheduled to hold a press conference this evening outlining his plans after having a chance to survey the landscape at Pompey.

Loyal staff were expected to find out what their futures hold, with talk rife chief executive Peter Storrie, who was at last night's game, will be one of those people on their way.

Grant confessed Andronikou has some difficult decisions to make.

He said: 'I have spoken with the administrator. He is trying to do his best for the club. He's not in a good situation.

'Everyone knows there are problems financially, if not the exact details.

'There are many, many problems and he has a hard job but I hope everything will be okay.

'This club needs to be a proper club.

'He is checking the situation with a lot of problems.

'I don't know so much but he is trying to understand the problems and find a solution.

'Any solution isn't going to be easy, unfortunately. We need to wait and see now.'

We are the first of undoubtably many sides to go into administration this season. The Premier League have to set a precedent by deducting the nine points, especially after the Carlos Tevez affair. We entered administration knowingly of the consequences of the nine point deduction that it carried, in order to save the club, so it's time for the club to man up and accept what they signed up for!

I agree with Avram and squad. I think it's rediculous that the regime of the present are being punished for mistakes made by the previous regimes.

As O'Hara said in the week, even if the points deduction is implemented and we are relegated, we can still call the season a relative success if we amass enough points to say we would have stayed up had it not been for the deduction. And of course we still have pride to play for... oh, and the FA Cup!!

When I say 'regime of the present' i meant the current squad of players and manager are being punished by mistakes made by previous regimes.

rules are rules you go into administration you get docked points. any fan of any club that goes into administration will say that they shouldnt be punished. portsmouth situation is no different to any other club. to be honest 9 points is getting off lightly if we are to believe the alleged "dodgy" deals that were done in the past few years. clubs like marseille in france and fiorotina in italy were automatically relegated from the top flight because of alleged fraudulant deals.

indeed this is one of the greatest posts in months

the thought that they are so stupid at the pl as to punish the innocent victims with 9 points

then that we could beat the drop without the deduction but we are relegated - what a wonderful feeling for us though, our self respect and pride, the very heart and soul of this great club

i truly would love an owner to come in and keep every player except nugent and prince, and with these people, smith included, once again rise from the ashes with ag at the helm

it is a disagrace that ps has not submitted a euro application weeks before the deadline, surely a chance then, submitting before the admin before xmas !

i was all for being patient with ps but now i think what a state that he and tanya have let this club become blaming owners is tantamount to crimimal

i like whizz
but sorry tanya has been overpaid and has not even found time or money to pay the contractor who did some more toilets - complete disgrace

Boo hoo hoo...for god sake Grant ....get on with it ! you are getting minus nine points ! everyone knows it ...Pompey are no different to any other of the clubs that have mismanaged their finances ! This constant bleating in the press is why other supporters and other clubs are losing what little sympathy they had for Pompey ! FACT....You are down ...deal with it !

Today's Vote

Are you confident Steve Cotterill will add to his squad before the Ipswich game?
Yes! Kanu, Naughton and another will all come in.
Kanu will return but no-one else.
Only if Pompey get lucky will they boost numbers.
No! More twists and turns will hamper Cotterill's progress.
