Harry: Danger man Emile can floor us

THE PROSPECT of facing Emile Heskey cannot help but strike fear into the heart of Harry Redknapp.
Wigan travel to Fratton Park on Saturday seeking victory to bolster their fight against relegation.

Currently five points clear of the bottom three, they will be pinning their hopes on their England striker coming up with the goalscoring goods.

Despite notching only twice in 25 games, Heskey did grab the priceless winner in the crucial victory against fellow strugglers Bolton a fortnight ago.

The 30-year-old has also contributed two assists during the current campaign.

Boss Redknapp remains a massive fan of the striker he would dearly love to have in his squad.

And he's wary of the danger the former Liverpool and Leicester man poses his side's European hopes.

He said: 'Wigan have been playing well lately.

'Heskey up front is a handful, then there's Marlon King. They've got some good players.

'But Heskey's the one. I would have him any day. I looked at signing him in the past.

'Look how well he was playing for England until he got injured.

'He came back into the England team and was superb. I've always liked him.

'On his day he's a test for anybody to play against.

'Him and Marlon King, they'll be a real test for us.

'He's what I call an old-fashioned centre forward and there's not many of them about nowadays.

'We've got a few slight, little ones at the moment.

'There's only Crouchie in terms of being big, but he's different isn't he – a different type of player.

'I went to watch them against Manchester City a few weeks ago and Heskey caused them big problems.

'He was a handful for Man City that night and it finished 0-0.

'He's a real danger and we've got to watch him.'

While Wigan may need points in terms of Premier League preservation, the fixture also remains crucial for Pompey aspirations.

And Redknapp still isn't giving up on the push for fifth spot.

He added: 'It's a game we want to win.

'It's not all about the Cup, there's still the league. Winning becomes a habit and we want to finish as high as we can.

'If we can finish fifth it would be fantastic. No-one is giving up on that.

'If we can win on Saturday and Everton get beat at Liverpool it's four points between us and all to play for.'

hello everyone.

I was up at 6am today trying to get tickets for the semi final - putting aside the problems with ticketmaster for a second, i have just found out that one of my best mates who i have known and discussed pompey with for over 20 years has managed to obtain two tickets for the semi final but is taking his bird (they have been together for 6 months) with him. I think this is outrageous and want to get other Pompey fans feelings over this. I will find out where they are sitting so please feel free to dish abuse out to them.

that is disgraceful pompeychard. so this guy is bringing his girl, is she even a true fan. i could have lost out to people like her.

that really annoys me. pompey should have said 1 ticket per person, that is as fair as anything. that way more fans would have gotten tickets...

outragous

how strange that a chap wants to take his current girlfriend to share in one of the greatest days in pompey's history. come on let's remain neanderthal, leave her at home, get smashed out of your mind, throw up, eat a burger or two and come back to her legless.

the rest of the uk has moved into the 21st century, obviously pompey 'men' remain in a different time zone.

roger, are you mrs and kids true fans. if they are not they should not be aloud to go. it is a disgrace that true fans miss out because people buy tickets for their family members who may not support pompey. it is disgusting...

My girlfriend actually asked if she could come along. I said she could as long as she didn't mind me ripping my shirt off and swinging it around my head if we scored.

She has decided to let me drop her off in Brighton en route for a nice day's shopping.

For all those that actually managed to get four tickets, fair play to them the lucky beggers.

As long as the lovely lady that sat behind me at the Utd game moaning constantly about why people weren't sitting down doesn't get a ticket, i'll be happy.

PUP!!!
