Harry to tinker with his line-up at Boro
HARRY REDKNAPP will tomorrow tear up the blueprint which has made Pompey the most successful travelling team in the top-flight this season.
The FA Cup final is on the Blues boss' mind as Milan Baros will be given the chance to claim a Wembley spot.
No Premier League side has won more games away from home this season than the Blues.
But Redknapp will scrap his tried and tested 4-5-1 system at Middlesbrough in favour of giving Baros vital match practice.
The on-loan striker hasn't started a game since the FA Cup semi-final triumph over West Brom – four matches ago.
Since then, he has been sidelined by a calf problem and lost his place to the Jermain Defoe/Kanu combination.
Yet, with Defoe cup-tied for May 17, Redknapp is keen to give Baros crucial pitch time in the build up to prepare him for the showpiece at Wembley Stadium.
It means he will partner Defoe in a two-man strikeforce at the Riverside Stadium tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Kanu will be rested, with the fit-again David Nugent pushing from the bench to feature.
And it's tinkering to a winning formula Redknapp believes is crucial.
He said: 'I want to play Milan. He needs to play, he needs a game. He picked up an injury and hasn't started since the semi-final.
'I need Milan. There's obviously no Defoe at Wembley so Baros will certainly be playing tomorrow.
'I will definitely play Jermain as well, for sure. David Nugent is back fit now.
'He will be involved tomorrow as well.
'I haven't got too much cover in key positions really, that's the problem for me.
'I'm not overloaded to rest any of my centre halves and while there are extra midfield players, there are not too many others.
'We have been in great form until the last two games.
'We've had a couple of set backs. I want to pick up a positive result before going to the Cup final.'
Meanwhile, Redknapp has been presented with a selection dilemma following the return of Hermann Hreidarsson.
The Icelandic international comes back into the Pompey squad having sat out the Blackburn defeat through suspension.
Lauren deputised at left-back in his absence – and turned in another no-nonsense display.
Now the Blues boss must decide whether to keep the former Arsenal man there or grant Hreidarsson an instant recall.
He added: 'Hermann's back, but Lauren has been excellent. He never lets you down.
'You are talking about a man who has been there and done it all with Arsenal – championships, cups, medals and everything.
'He knows what he's doing, knows how to play, but Hermann's available tomorrow and I've got a tough decision to make.
'Lauren's a good player, a good pro, plays right-back or left-back or wide right.
'He can do a job in five or six positions, anywhere across the midfield. He's still a good player.
'It's going to be tough for me, for sure.'
n Pompey's final reserve match of the season has been re-scheduled for last Tuesday, May 6.
The game against Fulham had been due to take place at West Leigh Park on Tuesday.
However, it was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
The fixture will now be staged at Fratton Park, kick-off 7pm.
