Paul Hart will this week start his Pompey overhaul.
And the Blues boss is looking to ship even more players out as well as welcome up to six new recruits to Fratton Park.

Steve Finnan and Nikola Kalinic top Hart's wish list, with Hart quietly confident both can be on board in the next few days.

As revealed in The News last week, Pompey representatives were thought to be in Split over the weekend to tie up a deal for Croatia striker for around £5.5m.

Right-back Finnan, meanwhile, is close to moving from Spanish side Espanyol.

They would represent the first two of as many as half a dozen fresh faces Hart expects to bring in during the next fortnight.

Meanwhile, on his way out is Peter Crouch, with Spurs set to complete a £10m deal after agreeing a fee over the weekend – despite Harry
Redknapp's insistence the move was still a long way off yesterday.

Although the Blues' squad is depleted, Hart has admitted others are likely to follow Crouch out of the exit door, although for reasons based entirely on football rather than to bring money into the coffers.

John Utaka remains the most under risk and has already been linked with Stoke.

More surprisingly, though, is Nadir Belhadj who is interesting Hull.

Pompey fly out to Portugal on Wednesday ahead of the City of Guimaraes Trophy and would like to wrap up a deal for Finnan before then.

The Irishman's agent last week told The News the right-back would be remaining at Espanyol.

However, Pompey remain hopeful of negotiating his release and Hart revealed he could be on the flight to Porto.

He said: 'Over a period of the next week or two I am expecting maybe five or six players to come.

'We've got quite a lot of targets that we're working on and we're hoping that most of them will come to fruition.

'I think getting Steve Finnan before we got to Portugal has got a chance. Although I'm reluctant to talk too much until it's actually pen to paper.

'Kalinic is one of many we're interested in. There are some good players we've looked at and identified and we are hopeful.

'In the next week or two we should see some additions to the squad.

'I've been looking at most positions because obviously we've got to have back-up. And there's a type of player and a type of character that we are trying to get in as well.

'Five or six players is what we are looking at and I'm hopeful.'

Meanwhile, Hart has admitted he expects other members of his dwindling squad to leave.

He added: 'It may be more than five or six we bring in, it depends if maybe one or two leave.

'That will be my choice so we'll see.

'It's not right for me to go any further into that but hopefully there will be quite a bit of movement.'

Mikeblue,

so Belhadj and Utaka may be sold for "footballing reasons" rather than financial ones.. right, so it follows that if players are being sold now for footballing reasons, then those being retained are being retained also for footballing reasons? So we are keeping the likes of Mullins and Hughes for footballing reasons? If this is so, then we are deeper in trouble than even I imagined! I am sorry but Paul Hart is not and never will be, any kind of competant manager, and we will be the premier league's whipping boys with him in charge. The clubs policy of massive sales followed by panic buying in the last couple of weeks before the season begins is verging on suicidal. There is no way a pre-season build up like Pompey are undertaking, will produce a team capable of gaining the minimum 39-40 points needed to stay clear of relegation. Why is it that the club seem hell-bent on following this lunatic path to self-destruction?

Does anyone know if we have any legal rights in claiming back season ticket money. I feel that I have been let down big time and do not want to be paying the to watch the drivel that they are putting out this season.

I read this on the internet and looking at what's happening makes me think it may be true

The 'takeover' at Portsmouth has generated many column inches and the saga looks set to continue. It has emerged that the takeover is considerably more complicated than it first appeared. As we first reported on 9 July, Gaydamak was seeking a clean financial break with the club as he was notable to finance the club's ongoing loss-making (running at £2m a month as recently as May this year).

Gaydamak was hoping the new owner would take over all his existing debt and pay him a premium for ownership of the Premiership club. However, as regular readers will be aware, Al Fahim's wealth was not nearly significant as it first appeared. When it became clear that Gaydamak would not be ableto walk away free from Portsmouth's debt, the takeover talks stalled - as we first reported, the sticking point was:

Gaydamak's desire to have all debts repaid and to achieve a financial 'clean break' from the club.

Faced with impending Administration, Gaydamak agreed to a settlement that enabled him to receive the proceeds of the recent player-sales and a percentage of the Sky TV payments (this will include proceeds from the forthcoming sale of Peter Crouch). This settlement leaves Gaydamak with continued responsibility for a significant portion of the club's debt. Al Fahim has effectively purchased equity in the club for a nominal amount. Al Fahim now has a controlling interest in the club, but crucially he will be liable for the ongoing costs (and any debt) accumulated after the date of the takeover.

For Gaydamak, the position is uncomfortable but palatable - his debts cannot increase and he has received a pay-off for a portion of his debts. Al Fahim has achieved his goal of becoming a high-profile 'owner' of a Premiership club for the minimum initial outlay. However, Al Fahim has had to make key concessions and Gaydamak has insisted that he remain on the board so that he can have a l

Sorry it cut off the last bit

However, Al Fahim has had to make key concessions and Gaydamak has insisted that he remain on the board so that he can have a level of protection over his debts.

Al Fahim has assumed responsibility for ongoing running costs and any new player purchases.

So if all these players leave on top of who has left already, and we buy 5-6 players......that will leave us with a squad of about 19-20 players, 3 of which are keepers!?!?!?!?!?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HA! thats the sound of everyone laughing at us!

Please go to www.football365.com and read the feature about what every club needs i.e Sunderland need a striker and Spurs need defenders blablabla!

Read what it says under "Portsmouth need" and tell me that you disagree with anything written. (apart from the fact they didnt mention we also need a manager (and by the way who the F--K is James Perch from Nottingham Forest.

Anyway read this and weep: (the headline isn't a good start)

"Portsmouth need a team:

With Glen Johnson gone and Peter Crouch seemingly on his way out, Portsmouth have astonishingly little quality in their squad. Niko Krancjar is possibly the only player in their line-up that a serious rival would covet, and if they do not add some talent to the ranks pretty quickly, it's difficult to imagine anything but a relegation scrap.

Aaron Mokoena is the only addition thus far, while Sean Davis, Jermaine Pennant, Noe Pamarot, Glen Little, Jerome Thomas, Glen Johnson, probably Sol Campbell and possibly Kanu are all shorn from the squad that finished last season.

The good news is Sulaiman Al-Fahim and his cash are now in place. The bad news may be that Paul Hart will be the man spending it. Hart's forte is developing young players, not spotting established ones. Keen scourers of the gossip rags will know that Hart has apparently made persistent bids for Nottingham Forest's James Perch, a player you might not be familiar with, largely because he's nothing more than a solid Championship player who probably won't get in the Forest side next season. If serious additions are not made, it could be a long slog ahead."

AMEN
