DAVID JAMES conceded what proved to be the winning penalty as France beat England 1-0 in Paris last night.
The Pompey shot-stopper brought down Chelsea's Nicolas Anelka in the first half.

And he was unable to prevent Franck Ribery's resulting spot-kick.

There was disappointment for fellow Blues team-mate Glen Johnson, who was left out for the friendly at the Stade de France.

England boss Fabio Capello preferred Manchester United's Wes Brown at right-back.

There's gonna be some rotation going on for a while yet until the qualifiers commence. Glen was on for the second half and I think played better then Brown, but then most do. I don't think James had a bad game either, he was committed in the challenge for the pen, and had no chance of avoiding it. I think Defoe should be in the final squad next time around, I think he would have done well today. On another note, Niko stuck in another cracker for Croatia today after just 10 minutes, lets have more in a Pompey shirt Niko....

Lets hope they all come out of the games without any injuries. Bit of a nothing game really and to play it a few days after such a big weekend in the premiership and a week before champions league seems strange. Capello needs to be given plenty of time to undo the bad work the previous "manager" made.
Play Up Pompey.

Opinions! Opinions! I thought Jamo did nothing wrong but just got caught by Anelka's pace after Terry lost him as well. Johnno should always get picked ahead of Wes Brown who was poor. Gerrard is never a striker and on form Defoe should have started over Rooney who was poor as well. Becks played more quality passes than any other player on the pitch & was really up for the game which is more than I could say for one or two others.

Anyone see The Sun headline today? Why is it that the national press just want to knock David James? Forget the fact he was left totally exposed by golden boy John Terry....what was Jamo supposed to do, stand on his line and wait there like an idiot? Might have all been avoided if Glen Johnson was playing instead of the amazingly over-rated, out of position Wes Brown.

No, that was that other Glenn Johnson who looks amazingly like Pompey's and according to the same reporter, Defoe had a blinder.
