Harry Redknapp is preparing to unleash his striking dream team on Bournemouth.
Peter Crouch will partner Jermain Defoe for the first time against the League Two side tonight.

Redknapp believes the £18.5m duo can provide the firepower to deliver Premier League success for his side this season.

He is looking forward to seeing how they shape up together.

Redknapp will also send a decent side to play Dorchester.

He has told his players they are on trial – and it's up to them to show they can play a part in his plans in the coming campaign.

Redknapp said: 'Crouchie will start up front tonight with Defoe at Bournemouth. They will play together.

'They will play up front and we'll see how we go.

'I'm taking a strong team to Bournemouth. We also have a game at Dorchester the same night and David James will go down to that one.

'I'll send a decent team down to that one, too, and get 90 minutes into them by splitting the teams up.

'I know my best players and I'm looking at these players to see if they are ever going to be good enough to be used.'

Redknapp admitted he was looking forward to meeting up with his pal, Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond.

He said: 'Bournemouth have a good manager in Kevin so hopefully they'll push onwards and upwards.

'We'll give them all the help we can. I speak to Kevin all the time still.

'It's a nice place to go and I'm looking forward to seeing him.

'It's been difficult for Kevin. He deserves better because I think he has the potential to be very good at his job.'

Can we please stop with the unfunny "little and Large" comments.... Very unfunny and very boring..... Two quality players - no need for the tabloid nonsense, leave it to the people who do it better than you people at 'The News'.

One friendly against a rubbish team aint going to tell you who is up for it this new season, they could put in an outstanding performance then be rubbish for the rest of the season, surely go with who ever puts in the most effort and is consistently good in training, and has the best attitude..

Ho, ho, ho, how can Trueblue1 mock the person who wrote this 'stuff'.

He can't even use basic English.

He uses 'rights' instead of 'writes'. He uses 'won' instead of 'one'.

Yet he believes he has the brain power to comment on a headline and a story!!!!

Ho, ho, ho

Come, come Trueblue1, you are making yourself look stupid now.

You put 'thats' when it should be 'that's'.

You put 'your' when you should have put 'you're'.

You put 'dont' when it should be 'don't'.

Like I said, basic English. No wonder this country is going to the doldrums.

Oh and in regards to your point of talking about football - you were the one commenting on headlines. Since when has that been football?

Know what's even more boring and unnecessary than constant 'Little and Large' jokes? The incessant arguing we have to put up with from people who claim to be Pompey fans yet seem to spend the majority of their time on here causing trouble.
