Avram Grant has declared himself open to the prospect of joining Pompey's future as the club's potential new owner began to outline his vision.
Prospective chairman Rob Lloyd met with supporters yesterday as the public face for an as yet unidentified new owner.

And his presence has given fans new hope their club can look forward to a bright new dawn.

But while there are sure to be plenty of twists and turns as Lloyd's consortium bid to take control, Grant has not ruled out the prospect of managing Pompey next season – even if the club is in the Championship.

Grant, whose side travel to face Liverpool tonight, said: 'There are maybe 25 potential new owners and I hope that from 25 there is one that will become a reality.

'I always hope that this will be the one. But I cannot tell you anything because I dont know what is happening.

'When I took a decision to stay at the club, I put myself on the side and tried to do everything for the club.

'After that I will think about my future.
It was very difficult to leave in January, so I don't think about next season yet. Who knows?'

Grant was close to calling it quits in January as Pompey's financial crisis saw players sold behind the manager's back.

But while he considered leaving, Grant insisted his bond with the supporters and the city had encouraged him to stay and he also admitted the link was growing stronger by the day.

He said: 'I thought about leaving in January, but I saw the supporters and said "no, I cannot do it".

'I stayed, I'm fighting for the club and I don't have any intention to give up.

'I'm trying to do what is good to help this club.

'You come to a place and you have contact with the people this is what has happened to me here.

'This club has become very important to me.

'I like to think from the heart in every decision. I don't like to make decisions in cold blood – football comes from the heart.'

While Lloyd's potential rescue plan is in the early stages, Grant is hopeful any new owner would finally provide some stability for the Blues boss to build a side capable of challenging for promotion next season if relegation does happen as expected.

Grant said: 'I would ask any new owner for stability.

'Tactics are very important in football, style is very important, but to get this, you need stability. I would hope that a new owner would create some stability at this club, so then the professional side would be more like it needs to be.

'I hope something will happen and I'm waiting for the day that this club will get some stability.'

If AG stays. Good stuff. If he goes, shame, but is Curbs worth a look??

Lets not focus on alternatives to Grant just yet. First thing is getting a buyer but after that, as far as I am concerned, if Grant is willing to stay with us next season, we owe him 100% support.

Hello again saint4everandever, nice to see you back here, you obviously can't stay away.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't Brighton in the Football League just like the club you support?

@saint4-1everandever: You bet your bottom dollar that he'd rather manage Havant and Waterlooville than manage you lot. A man has to have some standards...

Just remember that with every post you make on this board, our sympathy for your condition deepens. Keep posting and one day you might have a friend, but that friend will be a Pompey fan, that'll go down well with the other deck chairs on your beach...

The guy seems genuine enough, but we have heard it all before. Words are cheap, so I think that we need to see some action taken in order to really get the fans on board. It would be great if Avram stays, he's shown real passion and has got that accross to the players aswell. We've hit rock bottom, so the only way to go now is up!

Fingers crossed that players will want to come and play for Avram - he's has the ability and the tactical nouse and if we can have a settled situation off the pitch we can start the climb-back.
