Pedro Mendes' move to Rangers was sealed this afternoon.
The Portugal international completed his £3m move to the Scottish giants on a three-year deal.

Mendes scored five goals in 68 appearances for Pompey after signing from Spurs in 2006.

The 29-year-old's last-ditch wonder goal winner against Manchester City is credited with being the catalyst which kickstarted the Great Escape following his arrival.

Another influential midfielder gone !! I thought we were supposed to be offloading our "fringe" players. Surely having started the Cup Final and Community Shield matches Mendes can't be classed as "fringe" !

squads looking thin, expect a couple of new faces before the window shuts

I blame Traore, Nugent & Davies. Fringe players no longer welcome, had they gone when they had the chance we would still have Pedro maybe even Sulley and be looking to sign further!

3 year deal nearly guarantees him a scottish championship winners medal and at least one cup medal. good luck to him but the standards will be well below his own

yes i tihnk we saw Pedro's best play and now we should look to move on. he was unfortunately lacking physically to be a very top player. Still was a marvelous player for us no doubt. But we are building a different style of team and its time to let pedro go.

Not the worst piece of business, particularly if his reported wages of £40K+ were true. Always have great memories of Pedro though, especially the strike against Man City which effectively kept us up - or at least began the long great escape - lest we forget. However, we need to get quality in to replace him; loans and freebies are all well and good but we need a bit of substance. Appiah would be a great signing if those rumours prove to be true, but now we really need to bolster the wings and get the middle sorted!

Still not sure what Thomas is going to bring, probably just a loan signing like Routledge was way back when, basically emergency back-up that's rarely used. But it's not exactly Shaun Wright-Phillips is it? If that's the sum total of our investment in width Little & Thomas then we're not really moving forward at all despite the purchase of Crouch. Still a couple of weeks to seperate the wheat from the chaff though so we'll have to wait and see I guess before writing the powers that be off completely.

Shame to see him go after saving our Premiership behinds and his goals will be remebered for years to come. With Crouch in our ranks and the club splurting nonsense about no funds for players something was gonna give now Thomas has a huge weight on his shoulders and if he's any good he will be able to cope. If not then Harry and Peter have it all to explain to the fans at the end of next season.

And btw Mr Clapp its Davis not Davies (unless weve signed Kevin Davies) lol!

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
