Portsmouth concede Dunne is not coming to Fratton Park
Portsmouth FC chief executive Peter Storrie has admitted defeat in the battle to tempt Richard Dunne to the south coast.
The defender today returned from holiday after mulling over his Manchester City future following the controversial exit of Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Pompey had emerged as favourites ahead of Spurs to land the club skipper.
But, following the appointment of Mark Hughes as manager, Dunne is expected to now remain at Eastlands, landing himself a bumper new pay deal in the process.
Storrie added: 'We're not expecting anything to happen there.
'It sounds as if he is going to sign a new contract at Manchester City.'
