Peter Storrie today slammed the troublemakers trying to undermine the future of Pompey.
And he is convinced Sulaiman Al Fahim will be the Blues' new owner by the second week of July.

The club's executive chairman has been incensed at weekend reports claiming disgraced ex-Thai prime minister and former Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is involved in the Arab property tycoon's proposed buyout.

If that proved to be the case, it would sound the death knell on the deal Pompey fans were banking on transforming the club.

It was also alleged Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards help set up the deal.

Speaking to The News, the accusations have been furiously refuted by Storrie.

It follows separate reports of concerns over the length of the on-going due diligence process.

But Storrie has hit out at the 'nonsense' and has been quick to reassure Pompey fans everything remains on course for Al Fahim to capture the club.

He said: ''There continues to be a lot of rubbish written about this club. At one stage it was finances, yet the majority of the debt is Sacha's (Gaydamak).

'Now it's this. There has been so much nonsense. But I can assure the supporters everything is fine.

'I have never ever talked with Shinawatra about the club, that's the fact of it.

'I have been dealing solely with Sulaiman Al Fahim and his team – unfortunately there are certain parties that seem to have it in for the football club.

'There are people who cannot get it through their heads and want to believe anything to the contrary, no matter what we say.

'These are exciting times for the club and unfortunately all some people want to do is try to rubbish all the good going on here.

'The truth is we are in due diligence and hope to get it completed in the first, probably second week, in July.

'They have found nothing – but that doesn't surprise us.

Storrie added: 'It has to be thorough. We had probably a dozen accountants and lawyers here the other day going through everything – that's how it works.

'It's a process which can take four to six weeks. I've spoken to the people at Manchester City and the process here is very similar to when they were taken over a year ago.

'When Sacha came in during January 2006 it took until the second week in February for due diligence to be completed. Nobody said anything about it then.'

Shinawatra would fail the Premier League's fit and proper persons test after being convicted of corruption in Thailand and sentenced to two years in jail.

Storrie has admitted he was introduced to Al Fahim by Pairoj Piempongsant, an associate of Shinawatra.

But both he and Shinawatra have denied the Thai has had any involvement in Pompey.

Storrie added: 'I have not seen or heard from Shinawatra since he left Manchester City.

'As for suggestions Dave Richards brokered the deal, that is absolutely crazy. He's the chairman of the Premier League and offers advice when asked.

'Dr Al Fahim is the only one I have negotiated with – what more can we as a club say?'

Most of these allegations appear to be coming from the currant bun, I wonder how many hack friends of ole saggy face just happen to be working on these stories?

It's all because we are a small club on the south coast. There were never any of these stories going around when Mr Fahim was involoved in the initial takeover at MC and I'm sure if he were looking to takeover a certain north east club then it would all be positive and looking and a better future ahead etc.

Well they will just have to get used to the fact Mr Fahim it seems has been struck by whatever Mr Mandaric and Mr Gaydamak were struck by when they first became involved.

Storrie also denied players would be sold when Harry was advised by Storrie to leave. Storrie denies everything that is put before him. You never know when he is telling the truth. Probably never.

Surely the relevant tabloid press can be prosecuted.
Any subsequent damages awarded could then be used to
reduce any fee required to offload the tall, skinny, moaning Crouch and any other player waiting to jump ship

All the time there is people out there scare-mongering and spreading false gossip, who can blame the doctor if he did back out. if i was putting a vast amount of money into a venture where all i heard was stupid rumours and lies, then i would think about backing out. I did join Pompeygossip Duncan and i was so sick of hearing so many pompey fans being dismissive, deepressive and spreading false rumours, i left the forum. we need to be united behind the doctor because if not, he won't want to know. Also, when he does become our owner, who would want to play for a club where the fan base is constantly being so dismissive and negative. the doctor has said in the news and on pompeys website that he's commited to the club and he's going through with the deal. so just lets wait until the deal is done and he can take over and usher in a new dawning for this wonderful football club.

Take it all with a pinch of salt guys. Why on earth would Thaksin want to be involved? He can't even come and stay in the U.K. so what would he have to gain from it? Journo's these days will write anything just to make a story and while it can be very annoying it doesn't actually change things. As for P.S. telling the truth do you really want someone who tells all. Better to keep some things and some people in the dark I think.

It seems that ever since we entered into the prem, the media have always seemed to have something against us, even when arry, was ere. Are we that unfashionable, dont they think we belong in the prem? Are people just jealous of the club in some way? Even mofd dont like to show us much!

The story in The Sun on Saturday was pretty feeble, but they made the decision to run it anyway. In his position, Dave Richards will naturally be introducing people to each other, and I don't think there's anything shady afoot if Peter Storrie doesn't remember who made an introduction in a busy match-day boardroom. There was nothing in the Sun's story, but it just serves to make us fans more jittery. I have no problem with Storrie - he's doing a difficult job and everything he does is analysed and picked over to the nth degree.

The sooner the deal goes through the better. The club is like a rudderless ship at present and players like Peter Crouch and Sylvain Distin are right to question how is going to be the manager and the owner. We cannot sign or sell players at present and this is a ridiculous situation. The fans have to be patient, but there is a limit. We are a complete shambles at present.
