Armand Traore has vowed: I'll score my first Pompey goal soon.
The on-loan Arsenal man turned in a fine display on the left of the Blues midfield and again added an exciting dimension that Stoke found hard to cope with all afternoon.

But despite a succession of pacy raids that had ex-Pompey man Andy Griffin in all kinds of problems, Traore saw a clutch of decent chances go begging as City goalkeeper Steve Simonsen produced some fine saves.

Traore sighed: 'Tony Adams told me I'm getting closer and closer to scoring.

'Unfortunately, it didn't happen this time but it will happen when it happens. I'm sure I will score soon.

'I've had some good chances so far this season, but the goalkeepers have made some great saves against me.

'But I'm sure it will be good when I eventually score and I'll just keep trying.'

Although Stoke threatened from their long throw-ins and set-pieces, the home defence coped with everything else that came their way.

Traore said: 'It was a hard game and we knew it would be before the game. We had to win a lot of headers and tackles.

'It was a real test for us so soon after the game in Portugal, but I think we did well to cope.'

And rather than feeling any fatigue, Traore believes the extra-time in Portugal actually gave his fitness a timely boost.

He said: 'Playing extra-time really helped my fitness. I was so tired playing extra-time in Portugal, but I think I really needed that.

'To just do that extra running was good. I'm sure I will be better for that now.'

What is it with Sunday games, visitors singing disgusting songs. Does anybody know the connection between Stoke and Delilah??

When Jermaine scored A small group in the north stand sang this

“We stood there laughing
We put the ball in the net and
Stoke laughed no more”

Nice one

As the song goes "just keep on doing what you're doing" and I'm sure it will happen soon. Never say never, who knows what the next few months will unfold in the history of PFC and football in general. It would be great to see us poach him from Arsenal, but hey, let's just enjoy this young talent for now, whilst we know he is here.

Great result boys. Just look at the table and see where we would be with 3 extra points.

i don't think we'll ever sign traore, this guy has been touted as one of the best players for the future for a while now, he's only on loan to gain experience! real shame as i would love him!

I see one on the News' brighter reporters has written a piece on Djimi Traore picking up a speeding conviction with an accompanying photograph of Armand!

Very sloppy journalism.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
