Peter Storrie has laughed off suggestions Southampton beat Pompey in the race for Morgan Schneiderlin.
The France under-19 skipper had claimed he had turned down a move to Fratton Park from Strasbourg.

Instead he opted for St Mary's, where he put pen to paper on a four-year deal on Friday.

Schneiderlin's decision to snub the Blues has been met with delight among gloating supporters from Pompey's bitter rivals.

It's news to Storrie, though.

The Blues' chief executive had never previously heard of the 18-year-old, let alone attempt to broker a move.

And he couldn't contain his amusement to hear the player suggesting otherwise.

He said: 'It's absolute rubbish, I have never even heard of him.

'Are they having a laugh? Is it April 1 or something? We've never been after such a player. To suggest otherwise really is rubbish.

'Why would anyone ever choose Southampton ahead of Portsmouth in the first place, no offence meant.

'I would certainly know if we had made an approach for him and that is definitely not the case.

'It's all rather amusing, really.'

The truth is that a decent young player who wanted games in the first team probably wouldn't come to Pompey at the moment. If you were the player, you'd probably want to go to a club with a good youth set up and with a proven record of bringing youngsters through the first team, putting them in the spotlight and getting big clubs interested. That place isn't Pompey at the moment - though I hope that soon becomes the case. It is always much cheaper to bring through your own talent than it is to buy it in.

The funny thing is. They spent over a million for him. When they could have spent the money to bring in more experienced players to stay afloat in the coke(Joke)league. With the rumour that they are going to be losing roughly around six first team players due to contracts ending and transfer requests, he has joined a sinking ship. May be his agent should have checked that out instead of raising a bullcrap story. LOL!!!!
