WHEN a flock of starlings came to land on her cherry tree, Elizabeth May Curtis knew that summer was here.
Every year in June the starlings visit Elizabeth's garden and get first dibs on the cherries before anyone else has the chance.
And this year was no exception, when over 100 starlings flew past Elizabeth's window, all heading for the sought-after tree.
Elizabeth, 25, of Parham Road, Gosport, said: 'We know the cherries have arrived on the tree when we see the starlings – usually the birds know before us.
'I have a very big bay window and this year I saw all of the starlings fly past and land on the tree.'
Elizabeth then grabbed her Cannon Eos camera and pointed her lens through the window just as the birds began their feast.
The photography graduate added: 'I don't normally take nature pictures but when I showed my family the picture they suggested I send it in.
'The starlings have gone now and two fat pigeons have taken their place.'
