A pensioner was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after falling from a ladder.
The man, in his 60s, was flown by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance from the Waterside Centre in Gosport to Southampton General Hospital.
Gosport ambulance crew also attended in a rapid response vehicle but because of his injuries the man was flown to the county's specialist head unit.
A member of the crew, who did not want to be named, said: 'He fell about five metres on to concrete.'
The man plunged the 16ft distance at or near Gosport's Waterside Centre in South Street at 1pm on Saturday.
The ambulance said that at this stage it was not clear what the man had been doing when he fell.
