The Friends of the Hermitage in Gosport are busy preparing for this year's annual Apple Day.
As well as showing visitors how to make the best use of any excess of apples, pears, plums and tomatoes, there will also be the chance to buy a range of jams, chutneys and pies.
Entry as always is free at the event on Sunday, October 12.
'The wildness of its planting, its quietness, the wildlife living there are all what makes it special and hard to believe it is situated in the middle of a housing estate,' said Pat Edwards, chairman of the Friends of the Hermitage.
'Once you go inside, the peace and tranquillity are magical as are some of the unusual tree specimens.'
The Hermitage operates an 'open gate' policy, with members of the public free to enjoy the garden whenever they wish, seven days a week. However, Apple Day is an exception in that it is the one day the Friends hope to raise some money.
For the children there will be entertainment, plus music and stalls, from 1pm to 4pm.
