A 73-year-old man was punched in the face during an attempted robbery.
Police in Gosport are appealing for witnesses to the crime, which happened in Rothesay Road on Wednesday.

About 10.30pm, the pensioner was walking along the road near the shops when he was approached by two teenagers.

They stood in front of him, blocking his path and demanded he hand over cash.

When he refused, they punched him, causing injuries to his face and chest.

The suspects then ran off towards an alleyway near Palmyra Road. Nothing was taken from the victim.

The suspects were described as white, in their late teens, about 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build.

They were wearing dark, hooded jumpers, tracksuit bottoms and light trainers

PC Gina Campbell said: 'This incident has left the victim understandably shaken. Fortunately, he received no serious injuries.'

Police have appealed for information on 0845 045 4545.
