A GROUP of friends set off for Scotland tomorrow in a bid to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in just 24 hours.
The five men hope to scale Ben Nevis on Saturday morning before racing to Scafell Pike in Cumbria the same evening, then go on to Snowdon in Wales to complete their hike on Sunday morning.

They will be doing the challenge to raise money for Meningitis UK and will raise a Pompey flag when they reach the summit of each of the mountains.

David Johnson, 43, of Skipper Way, Lee-on-the-Solent, who has organised the adventure, said: 'We are all looking forward to it and are just hoping that the weather will hold.

'We are hoping to raise £3,000 for Meningitis UK. It's a bit more unrecognised than some charities so we hope to raise a bit of money for it.'

The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.
