CHILDREN sharpened their pencils to try their hands at comic drawing with expert help from Beano artist Kev Sutherland.
The Gosport Discovery Centre Manga Drawing workshop saw more than 20 budding artists create a comic strip.

Two sessions were held on Saturday by Mr Sutherland, and all the children left clutching home-made comics and a caricature of themselves.

Mr Sutherland, 46, of Clevedon, near Bristol, has worked on The Beano, Viz, for cartoon giant Marvel, and The Sunday Times.

He said: 'The most important thing for children to learn is they can all draw. Quite a lot think they can't, but they can.

'It's a bit like creating a film with different shots, but it's not as expensive because you can do it in your bedroom with a piece of paper and a pencil.'
