Quality food grown across West Sussex will play a key role in its own festival which starts this weekend.
The West Sussex Food and Drink Month will showcase everything from rare tomatoes to home-grown pumpkins, marrows and courgettes.

Events include a club meeting of the Chichester and District Gardens and Allotments Association, the Thought for Food festival at Stansted Park near Havant, Cornfest 08 at Bognor Regis, the Totally Tomato Show at West Dean Gardens near Chichester, and a traditional harvest celebration at the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum at Singleton.

Deborah Urquhart, West Sussex County Council's cabinet member for the environment and economy, said: 'Local produce is gaining in popularity. By eating locally-produced food and drink you reduce the food miles, support the local economy and protect our heritage and beautiful countryside.'

The festival starts on Saturday and runs until October 5.
