It was held in a shopping centre in Havant – but the nostalgic music made people feel like they were sitting on a pier bandstand in the 1920s.
Pensioners from across the area gathered at The Beacon community venue in the Meridian Centre to celebrate the senior years of life.

Numbers from yesteryear played out through old radios, courtesy of Havant-based nostalgia radio station Angel Radio.

The day was held to mark National Older People's Day, organised by Age Concern.

There was information for visitors about services on offer to senior citizens.

Local female singers from the group Reflections held a sing-along and there was entertainment from the duo John and Ron, both now in their 80s.

Tony Smith, who runs Angel Radio, said: 'These old songs have stood the test of time.

'When modern music is long forgotten, this music will still be being played.'

And he added: 'It's also great reminiscence therapy for people with Alzheimer's and dementia.

'They can sing along to these tunes and remember the words, even if they can't remember what happened two minutes ago.'
