A MODEL escaped being sent to jail for ignoring a driving ban imposed after she was involved in a fatal car crash.
Lauren Coppen, 22, admitted getting behind the wheel of a Citroen car just months into a six-month driving ban.

Coppen, a mum-of-one, of Kilwich Close, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, was given the ban in April after being convicted of driving without due care and attention after she was involved in a crash with a motorbike in March last year.

The motorcyclist Jason Harding, 19, of Eastergate, near Chichester, was killed in the collision in Walberton, also near Chichester.

Chichester magistrates heard how Coppen was spotted driving at 8am on July 23 by police.

Coppen, who is pregnant, also pleaded guilty to having no insurance. She received an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to do 100 hours community service, given a new 12-month driving ban and was also warned that flouting the ban again would mean imprisonment.
