RELATIVES of a young woman stabbed in front of shoppers at a supermarket have come face to face with the man accused of repeatedly knifing her.
Samuel Reid-Wentworth, 22, of Longford Road, Bognor Regis, is charged with the attempted murder of Lucy Yates, pictured, who was knifed in a Somerfield store in Anchor Springs, Littlehampton, West Sussex, on September 16.

Miss Yates, 20, received specialist emergency surgery at a hospital in Southampton before being moved closer to home at Worthing Hospital where she has been moved out of intensive care.

Reid-Wentworth was remanded back into custody during a brief preliminary appearance in front of Judge Richard Brown at Lewes Crown Court yesterday.

Sitting at the back were relatives of Miss Yates, including her mothrt Deborah Yates, who described her as being 'beautiful inside and out'.

In the aftermath of the attack, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides specialist mental health services, confirmed that Reid-Wentworth had received its care.

Reid-Wentworth will next appear at the same court for a plea and case management hearing on December 5. No bail application was made.
