'Those of us who have the privilege of working in the closeted world of professional sport would benefit from seeing just how hard people have to work to raise the money that is vital for charities like this to carry out their day to day business - it is humbling.'
Golfing competitions included Beat the Pro, Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin.
Alison Robinson, fund-raising manager at the Elizabeth Foundation, said: 'We are delighted this new fund-raising event was such fun for our golfing supporters.
'We try to organise many sporting events each year, offering something for everyone – sailing, running, walking, football, snooker and now golf.
'If readers from The News have other sporting events that we can get involved with, then we'd love to hear from them.'
