Kidney patients need not travel so far now after the opening of a new dialysis unit.
The centre, at Langstone Gate, Havant, means patients won't have to go all the way to the Queen Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Stefano Ciampolini, chief executive for Renal Services Plc, said: 'Patients have less travelling time and this is something they need to have treated three times a week. It's more comfortable – all the patients can be treated here rather than staying in hospital. We have about 35 patients treated at the moment but that's increasing every week.

'Everybody that has been here from Portsmouth NHS Trust, and our staff, are all very happy.'

In six months Renal Services has opened three centres like this in the south.

This time last year I was beginning my Dialysis, even tho i was fitted with a Fistula in my right arm I was never on Hemo Dialysis I was on Peritoneal Dialysis or PD,for the fact i didn't want to travel to the centre i was assigned to and spend 4 and 5 hours 3 times a week.
It's good they have somewhere close by to go to and good luck to all of you, after being on Dialysis for 5 months and on the waiting list for a year i got my Kidney/Pancreas transplant and compared to where i was the last few years it's amazing,I work ou of the gym 3-4 times a week, after my operation i lost alot of weight so have got 1/2 of it back still have some to go but it's not fat weight it's muscle weight which i was unable to do before and have alot more energy then before.
So please if you are on the list do not give up hope you will get 1 you will be a new person both mentally/phsycologically and physically.
Good luck to you all.and thanks to all the workers at the centre.
