MEALS on wheels are going healthy.
Meals provided by the council for elderly and vulnerable people will now include salads as well as hot meals.

The service is being offered by West Sussex County Council which delivers 390,000 meals each year.

The salads are made from fresh local produce such as ham, cheese, eggs and lettuce leaves.

Councillor John de Mierre, in charge of adult services in West Sussex, said: 'The county council is committed to using local produce and local companies wherever possible, and this is a very good example.'

For more details and to join the scheme in West Sussex call (01903) 231341.
