The Smith and Vosper baker's delivery wagon in Portsmouth about the time of the First World War. It was this picture which brought back so many memories for reader Norman Hall.

This picture shows a blaze at the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea in 1911.

This was the blaze at its height as seen from the back of the building with sightseers clambering up on prominent places to get a good view.

Damage was confined to the upper part of the hotel and no-one was hurt
