I published a photo last week of the race track at Paulsgrove with a railway station located behind the stand. Unfortunately this timetable was not to hand at the time.
Part of the Barry Cox collection, we see trains from all over the south of England could be joined for a day at the Portsmouth races.
Southern Railway was clever, demanding no luggage be taken on the trip and if racing was cancelled they were not to be blamed.
An easily read timetable, it also tells us there were no second class citizens at that time – you either travelled First Class or Third Class.
