Early on the morning of September 19, 1931 the flagship of the Atlantic fleet, HMS Nelson, makes her way through the mist into Portsmouth.

She was closely followed by HMS Hood.

Both vessels were returning to port after the mutiny at Invergordon, Scotland, in which several thousand sailors had refused to obey orders in a protest over proposed swingeing cuts in pay.
